D.S. & DURGA STUDIO JUICES. Spring is a religion in New York. We anticipate each budding flower – first snowdrops, crocus, then tulip and daffodil. The trees gather speed and the hairy magnolia buds explode in dank fragrance. Everyone knows the white ones, but Brooklyn has its own version hybridized by the Brooklyn Botanical garden (one of my favorite places in the city) in 1953. It is regal and smells strongly of many things – sugar magnolia, dessert, lemon, powder, rot. They bloom through the sidewalk all over Bedstuy & Fort Greene.
